Sony Ericsson wanted to promote their K500i handset, to highlight the Quikshare functionality that allows handsets to record and distribute photos and video messages via MMS. The UK activity had to fit with the Pan-European strategy that was being implemented.
Sony Ericsson’s digital agency Outrider devised the pan-European ‘Sleep Tomorrow’ promotion for the state of the art Sony Ericsson K500i handset.
The competition had an amazing first prize to be won by a lucky individual and four of their friends via the competition website in answer to the crucial question…
‘If you had your last 5 days, and you could take four friends with you anywhere in Europe with a Lear Jet at your disposal, what would you do?’
The campaign was rolling out via outdoor, print and online but there was no specific creative execution for SUBtv to run, so SUBtv created 5 x 30” ads based on 5 students from 5 different universities answering the competition question. SUBtv sent out a film crew, produced the ads and ran them on rotation twice per hour for 5 weeks.
The client was extremely happy with the resulting creative work and the student-originated campaign really fitted the brief. It also maximised the impact and amplified the message through the use of real students in all the executions. One of SUBtv’s audience won the main prize!!

Andy Wasef of Outrider said:
"It was great to work with a media owner who immediately got excited by the brief and produced some strong creative work that really engaged the target audience. SUBtv’s work allowed us to involve the students directly and both we and the client were more than happy with the results. We plan to use SUBtv again for future campaigns.”
