Sports Wednesdays
Every Wednesday evening, Sub.tv Sports will be showing a roundup of your University’s sports results coupled with national video highlights of matches, team profiles and training filmed by our network of Student Broadcast Production Teams. The feedback to Sub.tv has been very positive so we are now starting to roll out the full results service to more sites.
Sub.tv Sports will soon be available via the Sub.tv touchscreen as part of our On Demand Service. To check out the latest videos now, visit www.sub.tv/sport or watch one of our favourites
http://www.sub.tv?sVid=24
Hopefully you can encourage your AU Officers and student media to get involved with this feature as it’s a great opportunity to populate your bar with sports teams and student filmmakers, as well as showcasing your Sports Team to a national audience!
If you have any questions about this service, or would like to trial Sports Wednesdays in your bar, please email sport@sub.tv

Union Panel
Thank you to Cardiff Students’ Union for hosting the first of this year’s Sub.tv Union Panel Meetings in November. The meeting was very productive. The panel discussed the progress to date on the Sub.tv system, current developments including Bluetooth and video upload system, content on the channel, the new websites and suggested further developments the Unions would like to see.
The next meeting is due to be held at Surrey Students’ Union on the 7th December. If you are interested in attending or would like to read the minutes from the Cardiff meeting please contact jennyduxbury@sub.tv. Panel meetings in the North and Scotland will be coming soon!
We shall be including a synopsis of the meetings to date in the next newsletter.

Bluetooth
Sub.tv is currently testing an intelligent Interactive Bluetooth system in 12 sites including Teesside, Edinburgh, UWIC, Hertfordshire, Southampton, Newcastle, Birmingham, Southbank, UWE, DeMontford and UCL. The system allows Students’ Unions to advertise their promotions via Bluetooth; it is a free upgrade to the Sub.tv system and is unobtrusive; only sending each student the option to download each advert once.
Last week 6,141 students had Bluetooth enabled at the test sites with 1,136 of these being at Teesside. UWIC are regularly using their system to promote deals such as meal incentives, drinks and free bus promotions. Gavin Rickard, Events & Marketing Manager, at UWIC said “We have found the Bluetooth system a great addition to the Sub.tv network. Although it has involved educating both staff & students about Bluetooth, we feel it is an invaluable marketing tool”.
If you are interested in adding the Interactive Bluetooth system in your Union, please email jai@sub.tv to register your interest.
