SMS has become an integral part of the SUBtv culture. It provides both advertisers and unions with feedback from the community and also allows students to influence the content of the channel directly.

SMS interactivity is highly versatile and incredibly easy to implement.

It allows for competitions and in-bar promotions to be run at the touch of a button for instant wins of free drinks, merchandise, concert tickets etc. (see case study below)

Best of all, it means we are completely accountable and the data received gives us numbers of students participating and can obviously be combined with p-o-s figures. Over time, we are able to build a thorough picture of their interests and trends.

On top of this, SMS is an invaluable aid to union voting, enabling a much larger audience participation than would normally be expected if the student had to make more of an effort to find a polling station.
