The SUBtv screens have full audio and visual capabilities and provide the soundtrack and visual entertainment to their environment
Content is scheduled and played by the SUBtv AIRtime System. This is bespoke software developed in–house exclusively for use on the SUBtv network. Content is played out as MPEG video meaning no degradation of sound or picture quality.
SUBtv content is forward stored overnight via ADSL lines individually linked to each site, ready for playout the next day. The ADSL delivery system means that real time interaction is possible via mobile / PDA. SMS interactivity allows for competitions and promotions:
There is some local functionality accessed by the Union staff via a touch screen usually located behind the bar. We also now have a Local Union Content Upload facility that provides total content control in a password protected web page. Unions can upload their own information for the side bar and/or main screen making it easy to promote individual events.
The AIRtime system has been specifically designed for SUBtv and provides unique features which can be worked into exciting promotional opportunities for clients, such as the 3VJ video jukebox system for mobile operator ‘3’, and the inter University Gaming Challenge for Ubisoft’s game Ghost Recon 2 which allowed students to compete across the internet.
As AIRtime is our own system we can continue to develop it to respond to the requirements of our audience, unions and clients. We work closely together to make the most of it.
